Desktop viewer: the AI assistant checks and improves a terrain

A quarry with no classes at all: the assistant picks a ground filter, measures each try against an independent reference, and tunes it until 97 % of the ground is found.

The Mormont quarry (Eclépens, Switzerland), airborne LiDAR swissSURFACE3D 2019 and SWISSIMAGE 2020, © swisstopo, with its classes removed. Each round is checked against swisstopo's own classification of the same cloud: SMRF finds 75 % of the ground, cloth 70 %, Auto 88 %, and Auto with a steeper slope and a wider height tolerance 97 %, with the terrain within half a metre.

The request

  1. Ask for the terrain only, without trees or buildings, with contour lines. The assistant first asks Finitor which ground filter suits airborne LiDAR.

The rounds

  1. After each try it measures the result and reads its own catalogue: where SMRF leaves the bench faces full of holes, the cloth simulation is the usual alternative.
  2. The faces stand at 70°, far steeper than the filter expects, so it raises the slope tolerance to 0.5 and the height tolerance to one metre. A steeper setting brought nothing more and let non-ground points in, so it stopped there.

Every value it changed is in the toolbox, where you can change it yourself: the assistant proposes and measures, you decide.
